Exhibition: The mother&The weaver

I recently saw the exhibition called The Mother & The Weaver at the Foundling Museum.

Exhibition: The mother&The weaver

I think this exhibition fits in very well with the history of this museum. Much of the exhibition shows the development of the image of the mother in the history of Western art from the 18th to the 20th centuries. I was very impressed with the work of artist Louise Bourgeois. Her works are mainly based on the theme of spiders. These works relate to her personal experience. Her mother's work when she was young was related to weaving. Therefore, she used spiders to symbolise her hard-working mother and to show the relationship between mother and child. However, I think there are some problems with the layout of this exhibition. For example, Louise Bourgeois's sculpture of a spider is placed in the corner by the door. I think such a layout makes it difficult for the audience to see the exhibits.
