Xiangyu Liu
Xiangyu Liu is a fashion photographer from China.

Xiangyu Liu moved to Russia as a teenager to study oil painting and fresco. The experience of painting provided Xiangyu Liu with an artistic acumen in photography. Therefore, Xiangyu Liu's works are full of artistic visual effects. Colour is also an important part of his work because he studied painting. I especially like Xiang Liu's fashion editorial for the 18th issue of Acne Paper, where he combined the colours in the editorial in a fantastic way, Xiangyu Liu can deconstruct the conventional image with vivid colours. This is something I need to learn. Since I don't have any experience in painting, I need to look at the works of these great photographers more often to increase my sensitivity to colours. In addition, Xiangyu Liu applies an unusual way of shooting in his photographs. There is no square placement in his work. Instead, he uses a tilted lens to show people the many possibilities of the world. I was impressed by the interesting and absurd effects of exposure and flash. His works are also full of futuristic and surrealistic meanings, and Xiangyu Liu's use of colours and understanding of futuristic and dystopian images have deeply influenced me.
